Learning intention
Students will learn how to:
make and find matching halves.
Success criteria
I will know I have been successful if I can:
- find two halves that make a whole
- colour half of a shape
- fold a shape in half.
Prerequisites
- Understand the meaning of ‘fair’
Languages
Reinforce the use of language related to fractions and equality: share, halve, half, equal parts, whole
Misconceptions
- Halves do not have to be equal.
Before the video
- Role play: Demonstrate sharing a group of objects between 2 children. First share unfairly and then share fairly. Ask students what makes a fair share.
